Hi Blog.
So as I said before, Lizzie’s album is done. Well, the tracks are laid and it is now in the capable hands of Duane the mixer, engineer, general good guy. So it is up to him to put the shine on it, the finishing touches. And I know I have reason to be slightly bias but this album is going to be REALLY good. It has a more live feel than her last album and in my humble, quiet opinion the songs are better. You can tell she has grown into them a bit better. We were lucky to have such good guys working on it. They took the songs under their wings and nurtured them in a way that, thankfully, lends well to her style. Anyway, I’m excited for her, for it, for us.
I know, I should get album out soon, but I just need a little more time.
So we are back in NYC, the NYC that I am falling out of love with. I really care for her and am glad of the good times, but I feel like she is bad for me. She has bad habits and she’s getting a little too messy for me. I’d break it off with her if I could but maybe its too soon. It’s funny how people have a fear of leaving NYC, as if they are going to fall in to the abyss of mediocrity or wallow in suburban hell for the rest of eternity. Was there life before the city, is there life after it. Yes, I’ve seen it.
We’ve been making a few plans recently. I don’t know if this is madness but hear me out.
At the moment, our lives are split between here and Ireland, not a bad place to be, I know. So for arguments sake, lets say we spend 6 months in NYC. Of those 6 months we probably spend 3 months, traveling, touring, gigging elsewhere. The cost of living in NYC is such that for those months that we are here we can’t afford to be musicians, we have to get jobs like babysitting, prostitution and other degrading work. So we are thinking, we are going to give up our apartment at the end of the year and buy an RV, a home with wheels. So when we are in these United States we will be forced to tour and make our money by playing music. We will see the country, spend time in each town getting to know the good folk of this continent and not have rent to pay. We will have to pay off our home on wheels but at the end of it, one gets to keep it! Imagine that.
What do you think? RV mad?
Until next time…peace and love
