My oh my. Its late afternoon, on this Saturday before Easter. It really is hard to motivate myself, it really is like being in a time warp. We came to the studio at 10 in the morning and we stay in this large dark space until lunch and then dive into the darkness again. The food is mostly bad here too so I feel like our bodies are weighed down with grease and salt. It could be a force 10 hurricane outside and we wouldn’t know it.
I came down here with plans of knitting in the breaks and reading and writing but it hasn’t really turned out like that, we sit and listen and hang. It really is fun, it’s a lifestyle though, and probably not the healthiest.
The album is picking up its coats and its layers and beginning to grow its arms, its going to sound swell.
This morning we had a bit of a video shoot. Liz and I tracked a couple of songs live and filmed it at the same time. The studio that we’re in is a pretty cool space, lots of fabric hanging on the walls, lots of lamps and rugs, like a hippy den, so we ‘vibed’ it out a bit more with candles and strategically placed antiquities and shot a simple video. Chris and Jen did the camera work and Duane, the producer mixing on the go. It was fun. I think liz is going to us it for promotional purposes, so you lucky ones who keep close to her will see it in the next month or so.
Steve Waitt arrived into Lexington last night to add his flavor to the mix, he plays keys and has been in Liz’s band for a while now. He only decided to come down a few days ago, I think he was having a NYC over dose and needed to escape, so we told him to come and hang out here for a few days. He’s a good guy to have around. He kicked my butt at pool last night, which wasn’t so welcome but I’ll get him back.
I feel so very out of touch with anything outside of this room right now, so hopefully the blogging will improve as our days become less monotonous. I think I’m going to get my knitting needles!!!!!!
