Days 2/3 in the Studio with Liz

Its funny, I was thinking that being here in the studio all day I would have a load of time to be writing this blog. I mean I am only the backing vocalist, but there seems to be very little time in the day to sit and write. It’s a good thing, we’re getting loads done I just need to catch you guys up.
Yesterday it was raining cats and dogs in Lexington, its was dark out and being in the studio felt like being in a cave. It was a really nice atmosphere though, where else would we want to be on a rainy Wednesday? Its lucky that we’re working in such a large space because we can all get away from each other if needed, go do a cartwheel down one end, swing a cat, what ever grabs your fancy. Right now I am sat on a couch at one end while they go over yesterdays takes down the other end. It sounds really good. We have great musicians playing on the album and it gives this lovely spontaneous feel to the sound, it moves and the songs change and shift. I know it is making Liz extremely nervous, she wants to know where the songs are going to end up before we start, she wants a picture in her head but we seem to be coming up with the sound on the fly. She really wants this to be great and this nervous feeling is going to hang over her until its done. I have the distance though to be really excited by it.
We have a bit of a time limit with the drummer, Robbie, so we are tracking the rhythm section, putting down the bones of the songs and then we can add some colour when we have a little time.
Today our friends Chris and Jen, from Austin are coming in to do a bit of filming! Yikes! Its bad enough having your voice recorded but to have all parts recorded at the same time, I’m going to feel violated I know it.
Last night we went to the Lexington gay bar, Mia’s! Its funny, that’s my sisters name. It was a bit of a dive but we had a pretty nice meal. I’m not the biggest fan of gay bars, I mean Jameson tastes the same in any bar. I’ve got me someone to love and I don’t need to have ‘gay’ conversations or ‘gay’ food and I certainly don’t need to listen to ‘gay’ music just good stuff. But it was a cool hang out. We then went to meet up with Chris and Jen at ‘Ruby Tuesdays’? Is that the name, it’s a generic bar in a strip?? Anyway, we had fun coming up with ideas for their shoot. We were thinking of having a ‘Big Brother’ style confessional room. We can go and vent our feelings about the other band mates! We’ll see!!
Yikes, there is a bit of tension here right now. Maybe I should go massage some ego’s.
I’ll be back.
